Shiraz Lane – Momma’s Boy

Shiraz Lane - Momma's Boy

From the debut album “For Crying Out Loud”, Finland’s Shiraz Lane present a fine mix of sleaze rock and hair metal. Shiraz Lane has a really interesting (and really fun) approach to melodic rock. For Crying Out Loud has all the catchy hooks and sing-along choruses that recall the late ’80s and early ’90s melodic rock heyday – think Skid Row and Danger Danger. It also has the flamboyant glam rock energy of modern bands like The Darkness and The Struts. Put them together and you get a super-catchy, ultra-polished serving of feel-good party rock. The vocals do get pretty high (really high, actually), which may be too much for some people, but other than that, there’s a lot to like here.

Shiraz Lane is the kind of band that can appeal to the old school hair metal fans as well as fans of the new Scandinavian melodic rock scene. If your list of favorite bands includes names like Santa Cruz, Danger Danger, Restless Love, Skid Row, Crazy Lixx and Slaughter, For Crying Out Loud is an album that’s well worth taking a chance on.
